Access to Local Markets for Rural Households with Subsistence Economies - Haku Wiñay (2014-)

Date: 2014-
Web: Official website of the programme
Description: "Haku Wiñay" and in Shipibo-Conibo "Noa Jayatai" means "Let's grow". The Haku Wiñay/Noa Jayatai program - hereinafter HW/NJ, is based on the objective of developing productive capacities in poor households, aimed at generating enterprises to increase and diversify their income in an autonomous manner. To this end, the program delivers two products based on four intervention components: a) family production systems, b) healthy housing, c) inclusive rural businesses, d) financial inclusion. Within this framework, capacity building and based on the active participation of local stakeholders, the program seeks to enable program users to progressively overcome their poverty situation. The design of the HW/NJ program is framed in two important development approaches: capacity building in tune with human development and participatory rural development, on which it bases its intervention methodology as a horizontal implementation process that gives protagonism to local actors.
