Resumen: Access to information is critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through access to information, the public is empowered to make informed choices, effectively monitor and hold their government to account, and be able to know about decisions affecting their lives. An important conclusion is that both oversight/appeals bodies and individual public authorities can do far better in terms how they track requests for information and the appeals that flow from these. Detailed, high- quality information about both requests and appeals, and how they have been processed, is essential to understand progress in terms of SDG Indicator 16.10.2.
