Resumen: | The overarching purpose of the study presented here is to compile, analyse and describe commonalities and differences in the intended primary curriculum in reading and mathematics across a diverse set of developing countries.2 It is hoped that this study will contribute to on-going policy discussions on quality education among different national, regional and international stakeholders. The study results are meant to fill a gap in the current pool of knowledge concerning the intended contents and standards of the reading and mathematics curriculum in the developing world. By comparing curricular policies and documents among a diverse range of developing countries, it may be possible to devise new strategies to improve the skills and proficiencies that students are expected to acquire in mathematics and reading by the end of the primary cycle. |
