Description: The Economic Contribution of the Elderly programme was designed to protect the population of the elderly and with disability who lack economic resources and are left without any right to other types of pensions. Also, both preventative and curative medical attention services are offered to the recipients of this program, under the responsibility of Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance.

Comments: As part of the measures to face the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and social isolation, in April 2020, its coverage was expanded to reach a greater number of older adults. People whose physical, psychological and sensorial disability is included within the context established by Article 53 of the Political Constitution of the Republic of Guatemala, who have attained 65 years or more and have physical or mental limitation that is certified by national entities related to health are covered.
