Description: Non-contributory assistance pension is provided to senior or disabled citizens without stable income or other support who are not entitled to contributory pensions from Social Security Board of St. Kitts and Nevis. The pension is only given to ordinary residents of the nation and long absence from the country may lead to disqualification for the benefit.

Comments: By definition of law, persons entitled to this assistance benefit should be in need and do not have secure source of income or any other means of support.

1) Non-contributory age assistance

Recipient(s): Persons over 62 years old
Mode of transfer: Flat transfer
Periodicity of delivery: Monthly
Recipient of the transfer: Direct beneficiary
Comments: Until 2004, the assistance pension was paid EC$ 100 twice a month, therefore EC$ 200 in total monthly.

2) Non-contributory invalidity assistance

Recipient(s): Persons with diability from 16 to 62 years old
Mode of transfer: Flat transfer
Periodicity of delivery: Monthly
Recipient of the transfer: Direct beneficiary
Comments: The beneficiaries of the invalidity assitance receive the same amount as those of the age assistance.
