Secretary-General António Guterres today (25 Jan) warned of the resurgence of antisemitism, “the oldest form of hate and prejudice,” while welcoming new efforts by the General Assembly and others to clearly define and actively combat Holocaust denial.
In a prerecorded message, delivered tonight during a virtual event at the Park East Synagogue’s annual ceremony in remembrance of the Holocaust, the Secretary-General said, “our response to ignorance must be education,” adding that “governments everywhere have a responsibility to teach about the horrors of the Holocaust.” |
