Training for Work (Formación para el Trabajo) (Ex Training for Trades) (1997- )

Description: The programme seeks to improve the chances to find an employment of quality and/or better earnings, through training sessions to get more employability. Also, the programme pays to the Technical Training Organisations for each recipient that they put into the labour market.
   

Characteristics

Target population: Persons 16 years of age or older, who are among the 60% most vulnerable of the population, according to the Social Registry of Households and do not have completed higher education.

Comments: *The access to training is allowed to people aged between 16 and 17 years old with parental responsibility.
*Allowance of CLP$3.000 per each day of attendance to teaching phase and internship phase.
*If the course has the independent component, an allowance of CLP$ 200,000 will be given for supplies, tools or instruments
* Personal accident insurance during the training activity.

1) Teaching phase (Training)

Recipient(s): All programme participants
Description: The programme requires 250 hours of vocational training, but 60% should be directed to occupation learning, and the rest to transversal skills teached at employability modules, ICT, and tutorials, among other proposed by OTEC's. Each OTEC may define the hours distribution of the additional modules of the occupation, and they are able to include modules according to target group and occupation being teached by training sessions. The program includes a daily allowance for each day of training attended.

 

2)Internship

Recipient(s): All programme participants
Description: It seeks to insert beneficiaries as interns in a dependent job, or the development of an entrepreneurship project to achieve an independent graduation from the programme, but related with the training contents. This component has a duration of two months (maximum) for courses, and an internship of between 90 to 360 hours. The program includes a daily allowance for each day attended to the internship.

 

3) Labour intermediation

Recipient(s): All programme participants
Description: The programme will require to the OTEC to insert into the labour market, through labour intermediation services, at least 50% of the students that approved the teaching phase. If they achieve that goal, the programme would pay 10% of the total amount of the course. After three months of graduation and if the beneficiary could not get access to a job utilising the intermediation services provided by OTEC, the person would be transfered to the labour intermediation services of SENCE. El programa incluye un subsidio de herramientas para oficios con salida independiente.

 

4) Entrepreneurship Line

Recipient(s): All program participants
Description: "It allows to take a free Entrepreneurship Management course for people who develop or intend to develop an entrepreneurship, or who work independently. The course has a duration of 100 hours, and includes face-to-face classes, group and individual technical assistance, and an investment fund of $300 thousand pesos to support the implementation of the business model, elaborated in the different stages of the course. "

 

5) Solidarity Unemployment Fund Scholarships

Recipient(s): Those who are unemployed and are active beneficiaries of the Solidarity Severance Fund (FCS).
Description: "It allows access to free training, to increase the options for a person to obtain a quality job, either as a dependent or independent worker. Through this scholarship, Sence provides full funding for a training course, a mobilization and/or food voucher ($3,000) per day attended, plus accident insurance."

 

6) Construction Sector

Recipient(s): People from 16 years of age. Be under 60% in the Social Household Registry (RSH) except in the regions of Aysén and Magallanes, where people under 80% in the RSH will be eligible. This requirement is not necessary for people with disabilities and migrants.
Description: It is a training program focused on the construction industry, in trades such as "master carpenter", "master ceramist" and "master tracer", among others. The courses will have an approximate duration of 128 hours, comprising training in trades and transversal competencies, which will enable people to develop in the labor market. The program includes the following support: daily allowance, set at $4,000 per day attended; child care allowance, set at $5,000 per day attended for those who have children under 6 years of age under their care; insurance against accidents during training.
