Description: The objective of the programme is to improve the living conditions of young people in Guatemala, from 14 to 29 years old, by providing them with quality work opportunities, which will be achieved through the identification and generation of decent work opportunities , the creation and/or enhancement of technical skills for work, and supporting the institutional framework of a national youth employment system. In addition, the support for the strengthening of a national public policy for the generation of employment for young people includes the promotion of self-employment through Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

1) Identification and generation of formal and decent employment

Description: It is aimed at facilitating the incorporation of young people into productive activities in existing enterprises, as well as through the creation and/or strengthening of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), considering their potential for the generation of employment opportunities. This component incorporates an innovative model of Business Development Offices (BDOs) at the local level.

 

2) Creation and improvement of the technical capacities of young people

Description: The objective is to improve the employability conditions of young people through vocational training, certification, and improvement of the channels of intermediation of labour supply and demand.

 

3) Institutional support to the National Employment System

Description: This component provides technical assistance towards the strengthening of the Public Employment Services (PES) for young people that already exist in the Ministry of Labour and Social Prevention, and the strengthening of the MSME programmes of the Ministry of Economy.
